Interview with Kylie Scott Lead, A Stage Dive Novel + review

Today I'm welcoming back the NY Times and USA Today bestselling author of The Stage Dive novels, Kylie Scott. I read her first in the series when her publicist from St. Martin's Press sent me an ARC and I've been hooked on the series ever since. You can click on our previous conversation HERE.
So in between those Black Friday trips enjoy a little hard rock lit from my favorite author from Down-Under who even on deadline stopped to chat with me.

Overview

Stay up all night with the sexy rockers in Stage Dive, the epic New Adult series from New York Times bestselling author Kylie Scott, author of Lick and Play.
Can rock n’ roll’s most notorious bad boy be tamed by love?
As the lead singer of Stage Dive, Jimmy is used to getting whatever he wants, whenever he wants it—now he’s caught up in a life of hard partying and fast women. When a PR disaster serves as a wake-up call and lands him in rehab, he finds himself with Lena, a new assistant hired to keep him out of trouble.

Kylie welcome back to The Reading Frenzy.
I loved Lead, but the hero Jimmy is a complicated mess of a character.
Was writing his story a challenge or are the more complex characters easier to invent?
It was interesting because we had to find a balance with him. He’s edgy, but when it comes to Lena, he’s also aware and to a degree tender. And his history had to accurately reflect his behavior. Jimmy was a good challenge. I really enjoyed writing him.

Lead is the third in your Stage Dive Series and the fourth and final novel Deep comes out in March of 2015.
Will it be hard to say goodbye to these bad-boy Rock Stars?
I will be. They might be fictional, but they’ve come to life in my head. Who knows, perhaps there’ll be a novella catching up with them sometime in the future.

I love all the girls in the series, but theyre all out of character with what one usually thinks of as rock-star girlfriend/wife material.
Did you know from the start of the series about these ladies or did they surprise you as much as they surprise your readers?
I like realistic down to earth women that are easily relatable. Then I like throwing into crazy situations and seeing if they sink or swim. It’s always great to see the ways in which they rise to the challenge.

Your website tells me you were recently in Sin City the setting for two of your Stage Dive novels.
Do you get to the US often?
Was this an author event, research or a little fun at the tables?
I’ve been to the US three times now for signings. And hopefully I’ll be back over for more next July. I thoroughly enjoy coming over and getting to see some of the country. The slightly different cultures within the different states is fascinating.

So you’ve just put the finishing touches on the latest release and sent if off to the presses.
How do you celebrate or is it nose to the grindstone all the time?
I usually take a week off to catch up on the housework. Party on.

Kylie you have Sci-Fi, Post Apocalyptic and contemporary novels published.
Which one is the most fun to write?
I love them all. They’re all challenging in their own ways. I couldn’t pick a favourite sorry.

Kylie in all your novels was there one character above all the rest who just wouldn’t do what you told him/her?
Ha. Dan from Flesh. He always knew better than me. Typical alpha male.

Whats next after Stage Dive?
Keeping that one close to the chest right now. But you’ll see!

Kylie thanks so much for chatting with me today.
I wish you good luck with Lead and I look forward to Deep!
Thank you very much!

The other novels in her Stage Dive series
